Sensei Matthew russell, 3rd Dan
Matt Russell has been training under Shihan Cyril Cummins for 14 years since 2001.
He passed Shodan (1st Dan) in June 2005, Nidan (2nd Dan) in 2008 and Sandan (3rd Dan) in 2012.
Winning national and regional medals and trophies as a child and a cadet for Kumite (fighting) as well as Kata (forms) and Team events, Matt Russell believes that his competition success is down to his training of Traditional Shotokan Karate.
Matt Russell has trained under Sensei Yoshinobu Ohta, 7th Dan JKA, as well as previous champions: Wayne Otto OBE, KUGB Champion Matt Price, World champion Sensei Mandie Read, and European champion Sensei Tom Davies.
